DRIVER BIOGRAPHY
He is married to Debra
with one child Sabrina Joanne.
He lives in Montego Bay and owns and operates Mobay Service Centre,
an automotive repair centre. They prepare and service both road
and racecars. He also owns D’n’D Export, importing
items from Miami and Japan.
Doug started racing
cars in Miami driving a VW Golf Gti in autocrosses and some drag
racing at Moroso Speedway in 1992-93. He then started racing in
Jamaica in ‘94 driving an Opel Corsa GTE. Doug entered his
first Dover event that year winning Group 1 Class and in ‘95
winning the overall
Group 1 Championship at Dover.
Also in 95 he got his
first Mitsubishi, a 4wd Colt RS. After many class wins in the
Colt RS, Doug wanted to upgrade is car and try to take on the
big boys of Kingston. He then acquired his first Mitsubishi Lancer
Evolution II. The first event he entered with this car was a single
day stages rally held at a track that his own racing team built,
Team Mobay Raceway. He gave a very good showing with a second
overall and first in class wins. Doug also had many class and
overall wins with the Evo II at Dover, tying with David Summerbell
Sr. for the overall championship in ‘96. He then got a Mitsubishi
Lancer Evolution VI, group a Spec out of Japan sponsored by Motor
Sales, Sherwin Williams, Richard James, Bridgestone, Walkerswood
Foods and Baycourt Pharmacy.
In 2003, Doug got an
Evo 8 and has had a bitter sweet year. In that year he won 2 sprint
events, 4 races at Dover circuit track and 2 Major Rallies; Frome
and the end of year Petcom/Jmc International Rally. Thus winning
the JMC Rally Championship for 2003.
