DRIVER BIOGRAPHY

Born in 1975, Christopher began his racing fantasy riding motocross bikes while in his teens.  While helping his uncle and veteran SCCA racer Lloyd Washington, race formula and saloon cars in North America, he quickly became interested in 4-wheeled racing and dropped the 2-wheeled life.  With expert tutoring and advice from Lloyd, he honed his skills and began teaching others the Art of driving, which soon turned out to be a good business choice for him, opening Jamspeed Performance Driving School, which later changed name to Jamspeed (Racing) Rally School, which formed into Jamspeed Advanced Driver Training Institute, training security and delivery company driver in proper driving techniques and defensive driving, which still is in operation today (founded 1997).

He purchased his first soon to be racecar in 1996, a Peugeot 205 GTI that began life as a rolling 1200W sound system, but soon was fitted with a roll cage and debuted at Dover in August 1997, at the Mijam International Endurance meet.

In 1998, Desmond Panton of Key Motors assisted Jamspeed and Teach and facilitated the purchase and sponsorship of a 1997 Hyundai Accent GT, which was prepared for racing with the assistance of John Ralston of Tank Weld.  Despite the very low power output of this vehicle (71hp) he successfully raced this vehicle for the next few years, collecting trophies and gaining numerous customers for his racing school along the way, despite never competing in a full season of racing but only choice events.

A move to manage Arrow Electronic Security Ltd. saw him take a sabbatical from racing for a few years, outside of the occasional dexterities with their Rapid Response Car before moving to Island Motors Ltd, the Peugeot dealer for Jamaica, where he returned to racing in December 2002 with a showroom stock version of the 206 GTI to compete in the Petcom/JMC International Stages Rally, co-driven by Daniel Yap.

In 2003, an active move to enter and compete for the Championship saw the Island Motors Team enter everything for the year, and also saw a new co-driver to the sport, Wayne Piper, join the team.  Teach also sat on the JMMC Executive Board for that year, and brought about changes in how the clubs PR was handled.

2003 was the first year that Teach and Wayne decided to go for gold, and ended the season winning the coveted JMMC Overall Drivers Championship, 2WD Rally Drivers & Co-Drivers Championship, the class JA3 Sprint Championship, with the team narrowly missing the Overall Rally Championship by 10 points due to an electrical glitch on the 2003 Rally Jamaica, which costed 8 minutes and the class win.  Teach also finished 3rd in the 2WD Sprint Championship and 2nd & 3rd respectively in the class and overall Dexterity Championship for that year, and was able to keep his 100% finishing record intact.

The focus for 2004 is to repeat the Drivers Championship win of 2003, despite having disappointment on 2 sprints and failing to finish their first event and rally ever in July (Tarmac Rally) when their transmission failed with them leading the class by 1m50s.

Christopher is now married to wife Deborah, so look out soon for some mini-Teach’s riding and driving around in the near future!
